It’s that time of year again – the Lane Cove Fun Run is just 6 weeks away and Janet Brandt-Sarif Physiotherapy is proud to be a sponsor for the fourth year in a row. Last year Todd, whose baby Sophie was just one week old, ran with Janet’s son, Matthew while Janet stayed back at Kingsford Smith Oval to man the tent.   Last year was an incredible success with the dedicated Fun Run Team achieving increased numbers and creating the most wonderful community atmosphere.

Exercise is the best medicine for a host of diseases. In fact, exercise is important as a primary prevention for at least 35 chronic diseases and there is evidence for exercise as treatment for at least 26 chronic diseases. It is recommended that adults participate in 150 minutes of moderate intensity activity or 75 minutes of vigorous activity a week. The benefits include improved sleep, improved bone density, weight control, reduced risk of diabetes, decreased blood pressure and decreased cholesterol.

The Fun Run is a perfect opportunity to set yourself an exercise goal- whether it’s to walk or run – now is the time start your training.
