  • Shoulder Pain

Your shoulder is a mobile ball and socket joint that offers a great range of motion and because of this, can present with pain for many different reasons. It is supported by an assortment of ligaments, muscles and bony structures such as your clavicle (collarbone) and scapula(shoulder blade). Shoulder pain can be intermittent or persistent but regardless, should not be ignored as it can impact your daily life and lead to lasting problems. It is common for shoulder injuries to stem from damage to the labrum or rotator cuff.

Symptoms
Possible symptoms of shoulder problems are:

  • Sharp pain and/or pinch in shoulder when moving
  • Decreased strength
  • Loss of motion in one or numerous directions
  • Upper bicep pain or feeling of tightness
  • Clicking or catching
  • Pain that pulses down the arm
  • Pins and needles in fingers
  • General pain that lasts for longer than a week

Shoulder pain can be caused by numerous different actions or activities, which include but are not limited to:

  • Repeated overhead activities
  • Dislocation-ball (humeral head) completely displaced out of the socket
  • Subluxation, ball partially displaced from the socket
  • Upper back injury or pain
  • Neck injury or pain
  • Bicep/ rotator cuff tendonitis/tendonopathy
  • AC joint injury
  • Post surgery
  • Poor posture
  • General wear and tear
